How To Use PayPal on websites providing cheap legal mp3 music

Using credit card is sometimes not save, especially if you are paying for music (although, there are no threats using 3-rd party processing services used on major music sites).  In this case you can use PayPal at MP3Fiesta, MP3Sale, MP3Sugar, MP3Shake, or other music sites. While the majority of them don't accept PayPal directly, there is a feature of PayPal that will let you purchase music from all of these sites. It's really pretty simple, and is a great option for those who don't feel confident giving out their credit card information. Read on for a step-by-step instructions that will have you downloading music in minutes using your PayPal account.

PayPal has an often overlooked feature called the "PayPal Plug-In" that they provide as a free download directly from the PayPal website. You'll have to install this browser toolbar from PayPal in order to use this tool. After downloading and installation, the plug-in will provide you with a menu that allows you to create prepaid Mastercard with a set limit. This 'generated' credit card can then be used to purchase items anywhere where Mastercard is accepted, and is done safely - the card limit is set by you. This is great for making purchases online without giving out the credit card information of a "real" credit card.

Step 1 - Installation of the PayPal Toolbar

After logging into your PayPal account, look on the left side of the screen. There should be a link titled "PayPal Plugin" (circled in red in the image below).

After clicking the link, you will be taken to the download screen (here is the URL leading directly to the download page) Click on the download link circled in the image below to download the toolbar (select "Run" after it downloads to install it).

After Running the Plug-In setup program you'll have a new PayPal button in your browser toolbar (Internet Explorer or Firefox both work with this Plug-In).

Step 2 - Generate a Mastercard Safely

Click on "Generate Secure Card" on the PayPal toolbar menu.

If you haven't done it already, there might be some additional steps you'll need to do to enable 'Secure Cards' (you must have a verified address, etc). Once you've generated a Mastercard with an amount on it you feel comfortable with, you can then use this card in the following step.

Step 3 - Signup and Download

While your newly generated Mastercard should work basically anywhere, it has been reported that it will work at least on the following sites:

Other Notes

Unfortunately for the Europeans (and others around the world), it appears that this only works for those living in the USA. Downloading the toolbar and installing it but then signing in with an account outside of the USA doesn't seem to work either (you aren't even able to download the toolbar if you have a foreign account). If the status of this changes, it will be posted here.

If anyone has any good (or bad) experiences using this method, please post them in the comments section below.

Music Download Warning List (CDT advertises mp3 sites)

CDT issued Music Download Warning List with 30 so-called illegal sites offering music downloading services. Very good PR for the mentioned sites! I wonder if the owners paid CDT for that fart. They forgot www.mp3fiesta.com, www.mp3sale.ru and several other sites providing cheap and legal mp3 music to download

http://allcoolmusic.com/
  • Claims to have the "Largest Music & Movie Selection," "Over 12 million MP3 files," and to allow users to "Find Any Song for Movie Fast!"

Yet another mp3 download site worth trying

MP3Fiesta is a music download service for those who want the latest music tracks for cheap and without any digital rights restrictions.

MP3Fiesta has 19,214 artists, 79,592 albums, and 867,366 tracks in it's music database! Over 300 albums are added to the collection every day! It's complete with new releases, charts, ratings, and has a large number of music genres, including International music from the UK, Euro, and World. All music that you download from the site is in the universal MP3 format, so you can play it on your computer, iPod, mobile, etc.

Another nice feature of the site is the ability to preview any song before you download it, up to 30 seconds with good sound quality. Download and Preview MP3
The main reason to buy music from this site and not iTunes is because the price for tracks and albums is GREAT! Most tracks on the site are on average only 10 cents. That means you can download an entire album for about $0.99!! That's cheap! Even most of the new releases are $0.99 for the entire album! MP3Fiesta also gives you useful information (for tech people) about the tracks, such as bit rate, time, and the size of the MP3.

And as mentioned above, once you download the music, you can freely copy it onto any other device that you like as many times as you want! Visit MP3Fiesta

I'm back, dudes!

I've just found where to download music for my iPod

The Cheapest and Best MP3s at MP3Sale

For $0.99, you could get a song at iTunes, MusicMatch, Napster, and many other MP3 sellers.
Of course, you'd have to download a program, suffer through DRM protections, worry about compatability with your MP3 player, and have no control over size or codec and only get a 30-sec clip of the song (and sometimes no preview at all). And you would have pay $0.99 a song. That means it would cost $4000 to fill up a 20G MP3 player, and $8000 to fill up a 40G MP3 player.

Things are different at mp3sale. You don't need any program to download MP3s, just your regular web broswer. The average MP3 costs just $0.10. Which means you could fill that 20G iPod for only $120 or that 80G iRiver for $240. Doesn't that seem more reasonable?
Unlike most other legal services the files are not protected at all. You can do whatever you want with the music files. Burn audio CDs, transfer music to your portable mp3player, there are no limits. Completely DRM free, the way music should be.

If you've never heard of mp3sale, you might have some questions:
How can it be so cheap?
Is it legal?
Is it safe to pay by credit card?

How Can it Be So Cheap?

Mp3sale is based in Russia and follows Russian copyright laws--and the Russian market. An average legit CD in Russia costs about $1 in U.S. Dollars. Copyright law in Russia makes sure some of that money goes to the artist and publisher. Just as you could stock up on cheap music in Russia, or cheap film in Singapore, mp3sale lets you buy MP3s at Russian rates and import it into the U.S.

Is it Legal?

Yes, it is. It abides by all copyright and customs laws of Russia and the U.S.
It is legal both for mp3sale.ru to sell mp3s and for American and International consumers to purchase those songs without any fear of repercussions.

mp3sale.ru has signed agreements for this with Rightholders Federation for Collective Copyright Management of Works Used Interactively (FAIR). According to license # 008/3M-05 the Internet-project mp3sale, has the right to use musical compositions by providing downloads. Under the license agreement mp3sale pays out fees to FAIR for downloaded materials that are subject to the Russian Federation Copyright And Related Rights Law. FAIR manages intellectual rights in the Russian Federation. All third party distributors licensed by FAIR are required to pay a portion of the revenue to the FAIR. FAIR in turn, is obligated to pay most of that money (aside from small portion it needs for operating expenses) to artists. Both Russian and foreign.

Is it safe to pay by credit card?

Credit card payments are processed by third party payment processor. This company is verified by companies like Visa and Mastercard. No one has ever reported credit card abuse as a result of payments made to mp3sale.ru. You are quite safe using your credit card with this company.
